GAMBIT is produced by Fluent Inc. which is a CAD package software. It is one of Computation Fluid Dynamic (CFD) preprocessors for model's designing and meshing. It uses a graphical user interface (GUI) when taking the input so this makes the design process more easier when bulding, designing and meshing. GAMBIT can accomodate several kinds of modelling software output and also can import several models of ACIS, STEP, Parasolida, IGES etc.
There are two major different techniques for designing the model in GAMBIT :
There also the same methods and techniques for meshing. Just pick the most comfortable and suitable for a certain geometry.- Bottom-up technique : The modelling process in this technique is start by creating the low entity to the high entity. The lower basic of the geometry/volum element is a VERTEX (dot). The join of a couple vertexs can forming an EDGE. EDGE is more higher entity than vertex. And then EDGEs can be joined and forming a FACE. And FACEs can be joined and forming a VOLUM.
- Up-Bottom Technique : This is the opposite method of bottom-up. First is modelling the highest entity and then followed by modelling the lowest.
Here is the introduction Tutorial guide of GAMBIT :
- tg00.pdf : describe the GUI and the functions of each toolbar and also the interface function such as mouse or keyboard.
- tg01.pdf : learn how to Start GAMBIT, Use the Operation toolpad, Create a brick and an elliptical cylinder, Unite two volumes, Manipulate the display of your model, Mesh a volume, Examine the quality of the mesh, Save the session and exit GAMBIT
